MW520 and mapping software

Post by 007 »

Myself, KE9GK and others not on the board took delivery of some pristine surplus MW520's that we will be using for mapping/packet/APRS/virtual control heads etc. We have no operational experience with these units at work, as our respective departments either use CF-28's (law) or nothing at all (fire/ems).

Does anyone use the MW520 (either work or play) and if so equipped, what do you run for mapping software?

Any other tibits would be helpful also, such as quirks or problems encountered.

MW-520

I have a MW-520 with Windows 98SE and I have the latest Microsoft Street and Tips with the USB GPS, I connect it using a PCMCIA Card with 2 USB ports on it and I also have a Verizon Wireless Data Card for Internet. So far the units works great.
