FYI - The EMC firmware version is only an issue when you are using CKR key management which I dought you are or need. Check under secure options and disable CKR. You will have to toggle through several secure screens because once enabled the rss sets other options on. As for the module that you purchased, it sounds like you purchased an un-programmed hybrid. The hybrids are programmed at the time of purchase by the parts dept. The version can only be upgraded by using a kvl3000 with the appropriate pcmcia card installed.

after i disabled CKR, the 'OLD EMC' went away, and KG1 and KG2 have new values..

KG1 = DES-XL
KG2 = DES-OFB

does this sound right???

THANK YOU ALL for your help

i do have multikey, i just keyloaded 6 keys (that i use to talk to my saberIII using DES-XL), and it does work

i keyloaded a DES-OFB key, but can not test that until monday (at work)

i did get the module from the guy on ebay for $100.00

i do not know what my old module had, since it died, and i never bothered to check.. but it DID work w /CKR and OTAR on my radio, so i guess it had a firmware version newer than 2.10

my firmware is
R7.07.00
DSP N07.03.20

elroy said that that is the NEWEST firmware/DSP version out (as of 3 weeks ago, when i got the msg from him)

guess it is too new for OTAR and CKR with a 2.10 module

again - thank you all
