Is there a market for 438-470 astro spectras

Post by jmr061 »

I am just curious how many people here would be interested in 45 or 100 watt range 2 uhf (438-470) imbe astro spectras. The drawer units wouldn't be as cheap as "normal" range astros going on ebay and such, but I am wondering how many people here would have a use or be interested in these.

Well if I can sell a custom radio for $200 I'd be loosing money. There was never a mid or hi power range 2 uhf made. In order to make one, two or three radios are used to make one (drawer unit). I am estimating anywhere from 400-600 bucks depending on exactly what parts are needed. For instance if you have a 450-482 astro spectra then the conversion would be in the 400 range. If you have no donor drawer unit then it would be on the higher end.

If someone is truely interested in this pm me.

I have done two of these radios for people here on the board. I should add that this is more geared towards ham people. The 450 radios will not do ham imbe out of band, therefore a 438 radio is required. There are areas where hams are using imbe in uhf.

how much would u charge to "convert" the analog spectra into an astro spectra?
