Txinhibit on Astro Trunked system

Post by tj173 »

I have programmed my xts3000 to my county's trunked system. Originally I couldn't here much but I found a post about having the A/B switch programmed with txinhibit causing the radio not to work properly. This was the case for me. Once I unprogrammed the A/B switch the radio worked great, only problem is I can tx, but I don't want to. I checked the soft key menu and it won't let me program the txinhibit for trunk personalities, only conventional.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You can do the same trick that you could in the MTX/MTS series.

Using the RSS -

Program the trunking personalities so that they are in a zone just on channels 17-18-19 etc - this way you can't get to them. You then program them into the scan list of the radio, and make sure the CHAN softkey is not in the menu.

You'll be able to monitor to your hearts content - without there being ANY way to transmit on the channels (by using the PTT)

This is sort of messing with the PA of the radio - the only true way to make sure it doesn't TX.

There are a couple other tricks - make sure auto affiliate is off, and a couple other things.

Do some searching on the board, and you'll find an answer - Elroy Jetson has posted this same technique several times - so you should be able to use the search function to get more info.

Thanks guys. I decided to go with Shaun's WIDE AMSS idea. Works great!
