Saber programming question...

Post by RadioNut »

Ok so I had my Saber programmed by my radio guy but he said he could not enable the scan b/c it needed some other option in the codeplug. I am not so knowledgable when it comes to these terms but according to the model number it is scan capable.

What do I need to get for him so I can use the scan function of the radio? I don't know what this requires. Just looking for input on whether this is something simple to add.

Its a Saber 1, 12 channel low power VHF 146-174Mhz radio. Model number ends in CN which would indicate scan capable.

Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, the basic Saber 1 (as opposed to the 1E) will not support scan, even if the model number is "CN".

You would need a 1E, II, or III in order to support scan.

The 1E does not support scan either.

What radios do you own?: What's a radio?

The suffixes of Motorola's model numbers ("AN", "BN", "CN" Etc.) signify engineering changes only. They do not indicate option capabilities. In your case, you need a Saber II or III to scan.
