We use a lot of them but AMP will not sell them, looks like a special. Molex has a simmular connector and matching pin which will work, just the positioning lugs on the connector housing are different.

Hi: The Amp Part Number for the 16 Pin Housing is 88-3210-7-1
.......The Amp Part Number for the [ Pins for above is 87309-8
The Amp Crimping tool ( Horribly Expensive ) 90202-2 $467.00

if you dig deep enough, you can probably get what
you need, but bare in mind, these companies have a
min order.....To get what we wanted I had to spend
700.00 for all the materials

Monte, you must have been able to arm wrestle them, I could'nt.
Thanks for the numbers, I going to call DigaKey.
I got a Paladin crimp die set for open barrel connector pins and it works ok. $22.50 for the dies, I allready have several crimpers handles. I also saw one from Ideal for $90 for the tool/dies. The Radio Shack crimpers, $9.99 work ok too, just a little tight on the width, had to find one that worked well.

HI Will

I only had to use CASH, and alot of it, but
since I made over 100 Cables using those
connectors, I chose to get the proper tool.

Some persons still may wonder why I charge
a few bucks extra to due a premium job, and
the cost of tooling is one reason...

The Motorola Solution? Use a pair of pliers
and bend the tabs over !

What a waste !

You are absoutely correct, you have to use the proper tools, and they cost.

HI:

All I can offer to you there, is the [ shell ] Part
Number may be propriatory to Motorola at this
time. They are closing the doors of being able
to get OEM parts from vendors.

If you go through a Distributor, I think that
would be useless, but if you go mfg Direct
as a OEM, you might still be able to sneek
through.

I ordered these some time ago, and it was a
pretty fair order...I am sure if you order 500.00 / 1000.00
worth of product from AMP, they will not turn a order
a way of that size...

If you were after 10 / 20 pieces, I would say just get the
items from Motorola and order enough to satisfy your needs/

Pretty soon, you may not even be able to get them from
Motorola unless its in a [ Kit ]

Keep in mind, these Mfg's are realizing that " Any " order they
may take costs them about 35.00 to process it...So they LOOSE
monies on a 5.00 / 10.00 order.

I am small time person, and when I take a order for a PTT switch,
I have to either order it if its not in stock, Pay for the shipping
to me, Repack the item for my customer, Relable the package, then
go to the Post Office , Stand in Line, and then Pay for it to be processed by USPS.....Pretty tough on a .25 / .50 Part....Many times
I just toss it into a In a envelope, place a stamp on it, and send
it for free....Save alot of time and effort

Hi
We bought quite a few of them. If anyone wants to buy a bunch, email me with the quantity and I'll dig up what we have into them and email them back with a quantity price.
Shells and pins are separate items.
