XTS5000r cable

I have an XTS5000r to program, I have the ribless cable. I set up the modem & finally got that to work however when I read the brand new virgin codeplug using the CPS R01.01.00 it comes up and says that the codeplug is a development version and cannot be programmed.

1st. I want to get my own programming cable. Is this cable just straight through since it is ribless and plugs in a serial port?

2nd. Is there are a newer version software or were they really nasty and made a separate software for th R version?
