New XTS5000 Issue With Ver 10 CPS

Post by Astroboy »

Hi there Guys

Just wondering if anyone has come across the below screen when trying to write to a radio using CPS 10.00.00

Ver 9.00.00 Runs fine but trying to do the right thing and keep up to date, Both my radios though are only Host 09.00.05, DSP 09.00.02 and Host 09.00.01, DSP 09.00.00 Firmware. Ones R Band and the Others S

I do belive i saw something about the indifference but hell why do M send us new SW and not advise that ohh you need FW Upgrade too.

ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYED

The Archive Can not be written to this radio.

The Firmware in this radio Requires 15 zones, 16 ch Per zone and 240 Conv Personalities. Each channel must sequentially point to a unique personality.
Please modify this archive or refresh the firmware in the radio via Flashport.

Just wondered if anyone has seen this before

Yes, we've seen that error before. Would you post the flashcode of each radio? I suspect therein lies the problem.

As a general rule, with the Astro25 platform, major CPS revision releases are tied to major Host releases. In this instance, since you only have Host R09, there's really no advantage to trying to use CPS R10. I'd downgrade and stick with CPS R09 for the time being.

CPS R10 enforces the 15zone/16channel/240conv.pers. requirements of FPP. If you have one of the radios that support 850 channels and FPP, you should not program those radios with R10, lest you lose those capabilities.

i had a 2500 with FPP.. programmed with CPS10.. the issue existed when we tried to reprogram the already programmed FPP channels... in CPS9.x we were able to assign multiple different MDC personalities to the FPP channels, different scan lists, different DTMF, you get the idea..

in CPS10, Each FPP channel MUST be MDC pers#1, DTMF#1, QC#1, ASTRO#1, no way to change that!

you COULD although, add zone #16+ as NON-FPP zones, and have your way with them...

If you have a Q52 only radio and upgrade to R10.00.00, you'll loose the FPP from your menu and the ability to use FPP unless you add Q53 to the mix with it..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

You don't need a dongle if you have Q52 + Q53 in the radio with R10.00.00..

You know what truly amazes me? My company has TWO software developers (golgi bodies, at best), who are also the firmware developers. We have over 3000 instuments in the field, and over 236.5 million instruction codes in our software; and in 10 years; we've never had software/firmware compatibility issues. It takes me, et; al, about a month to vet out a new SW/FW rev. WTF's up with Motorola? I truly believe in hiring the handicapped; but this is ridiculous...

firmware 10 and 11 are NOT COMPATIBLE WITH "ENHANCED FPP".

upgrade your firmware, you are SOL with the 5A9008 flash. (period)

the added features in 10/11 are not really that great anyway...

bottom line:

if your radio is HOST 5

you do NOT need to program it with CPS 10

if your radio is Host 9

you do NOT need to program it with CPS 10

CPS releases are TAILORED TO THE RADIO HOST FIRMWARE.......

hope that clears the mud.
