Hello all, I just got a brand new AS 3 UHF 450-512
It is quite hot on the modulation and I am not used to this radio or servicing it, I have the equipment and know how to check freq. and all that but how do you cut down the modulation on the TX audio??
It is there but it is not called modulation I'm sure.
The radio is wonderful, much better than the XTS3500 I had (fits in the back pocket)
I have a service monitor (current CAL) and Moto Smart Rib so I should be OK, I also have an adapter for the RF to service monitor.
Thanks in advance

Jimminy Christmas!!! My UHF Astro Saber III had HOT HOT audio when I received it as well. The audio was so dam HOT, everyone complained about the crickets chirping - AND I was inside the house with windows open!
Until I tamed the HOT audio, I have to be carefull about what was playing on the TV, becasue everyone heard EVERYTHING so clearly. No cursing on the ham bands!!!
My VHF Astro has *normal* audio with the same settings that UHF astro had with it's HOT audio.

The XTS3500 is a great radio, I own one and have had no problems with it so far.
The ASTRO SABER III is also a great radio, But just a bit bulky for me. The XTS3500 is 2 generations newer. Its applications are perfect for my needs.
I'm not too far from you, maybe me you and Will can meet for coffee one day.

I liked the STX821 because it fit into my pocket, however, it consumed my whole pocket! I had no choice but to jam it in my pocket or hold it because it had no belt clip, either.
Oddly enough, I am moving onto an XTS3000.
