Post by dvpman »

The local cops here has about 3000 xts3k's and use spk/mic's. I understand they have a major beef with Mother M because when you press the PTT on the radio and then press the PTT on the spk/mic (while you still have the radio PTT pressed) it locks on tx WOW. The only way to reset the radio is to power down and on again.

Anyone discover this before ?

Shaun,

were talking about cops here... they get bored..... very bored. I do think that when in the car the PTT presses near the selt belt buckle then they call for a check and whammo LOCK ON. tot are set for 60 seconds, it's a long time for a channel to be tied up.

This is on a conventional network only not trunked.

Sounds like a defect to me. This is something they will fix. Anything that causes communication falure, regardless of how bizarre it may sound, short of physically destroying the radio, is considered very seriously by M. It's probably already fixed in a newer version of firmware (or not yet broken in an older version). I know they have fixed defects where the radio would reset if the scroll button was continuously pressed for long periods of time. There are numerouse other instances where they have fixed other problems, which any normal individual would think acceptable, just because it caused communications "glitches". They are highly sensitive to the needs of law enforcement and communications is paramount.
