Minitor III high pitch tone

Minitor III high pitch tone

I have a Minitor III that has a high pitch squeal all the time on all functions. What causes this?

If you are getting a tone like the programming mode tone except it goes on as long as the pager is turned on, I would suspect it has a corrupt codeplug. Can you read it with the software?
