MCS2000 800MHz capabilities

Post by ptemplin »

As I continue to improve my communications setup, I'm looking for ways to stick with a single radio series for as much of my communication needs as possible. I tried to standardize on Motorola's Maxtrac series, but I may need to upgrade to an MCS 2000 to accommodate one of the systems in my area.

In looking at the MCS 2000 line, I see that it can cover most of what I'm looking for (VHF, UHF, 800MHz Motorola trunked). I know that it won't do EDACS/ProVoice, and that's OK. However, there is an 800MHz LTR system in town that I hope to be able to monitor. Does the MCS 2000 have the capability of doing this without major modifications?

I may be able to tackle the one 800MHz system with the Maxtrac that I have (possibly with the purchase of a newer ROM), so this might all be for moot, but I'd like to start getting my ducks in a row.
