Impala Non-9C Question
Ok, dumb question but I feel like I am about to break something if I don't go ahead and ask. How in the heck do I remove the pull-out "change tray, cig. lighter socket" console, so that I can install a Jotto-Desk CC-1 console. I just can't figure it out, and don't want to tear everything up in the process of figuring. Thanks in advance. -Mike

I'm not sure how It's supposed to come out, but I just pulled on mine really hard, and it popped out. It sounded like I broke a plastic tab or something, but it goes back in nicely and works when its back in. Maybe I just didnt care enough about it, but it worked, and it will go back in, so I really dont care right now.

There is no information regarding the removal of it in the owner's manual. None that I ever found anyways.
I've found that if you just pull and 'wiggle' it straight out, it will come out. The tray sits in two channels much like a desk drawer. Don't pull down, or sideways. The channels are locked into the metal of the dash by little tabs. I accidently pulled one of the channels out. I managed to get it back in, but I dunno what I would have done if it broken the little tabs on it.
When it comes out, you will need to disconnect the ashtray light and power connectors.
