What exactly does "Error #56 Radio Code Plug Error" mean?

GP300s and P110s are the same radio, frame, hardware and accessories, only the case and batteries are different.
Sounds like he's got a radio with a corrupt codeplug, have you tried reprogramming with a NEW codeplug with known good data?
What year was the radio made, if prior to 1994, you 'could' have a toolkit hacked radio, post 1994 radios have a different processor to prevent toolkit (bogus) RSS hacks that were common in the earlier radios.
I no longer have my GP300 RSS manual, after so many moves, it got lost somehow, so I can't search for exact information on the problem you are having, but I have had bad codeplugs as a result of radios being programmed with 'TK'(toolkit).
