that version is pretty old, the radios have probablly been programmed with newer cps and you'll need at least the version last programmed wth to make it work.

If he is using CPS, then last I knew R02.01.00 was the most recent.

Ver 02.xx.xx RSS is ancient.

A simple shot in the dark here. Are you using the right cable to the mic jack or are you using a maxtrac/cdm cable?

Try making the flash RSS cable that plugs in the bottom and see if it works.
I've had ones that do diddly squat through the mike port but work in the accessory connector

Mcs 2000

Post by fde302 »

I had to reinstall my windows xp pro on my computer and reinstall my rss also and now when I try to read my mcs2000 radio it now reads it and gives me that dreaded fail 1/90 code. when I unplug the cable from the radio it resets to operate again as before I tried to read it. This is the same rss that has ever been used on this radio. I used the same rss on my other computer and it works just fine. This is an old version but still good for me Rss R-01.10.00 any help out there would be apprciated. Oh by the way I am using a rib box connection to the mic connection. This rss did work for me before on this computer before I had to redo it.

Are you running RSS or CPS?
The RSS does not run well on XP.
I think its time to upgrade to CPS

From your first post it sounds like you are running version U, V is now out but I havent recieved it as yet.
Like I said try a cable to the bottom of the radio and see if it works.

How can you tell what version v or u. Do you have any idea why it worked on the same computer first and now does't work now when nothing else was done to the radio.

Should be on the disk
RVN4175U or RVN4175V

RVN4175T is R02.00.01
RVN4175U is R02.01.00
RVN4175V is R02.02.00

You can use the help tag and click about.

Again it works with the same cps on my other computer which is also runing windows xp pro. It used to work on this computer now does not. Help Please.

Fail 01/90 is not a programming error, so it's dufficult to say what is wrong with your programming set-up. That error code means the control head isn't communicating with the main body of the radio. You generally see that error with remote-mount installations in which the front head is powered but the radio is not. I have seen that error on dash mount units as well, though far less often. It is sometimes a power supply issue.

When exactly do you see the error? After completing the read process? Does it successfully read the radio, and then the error pops up after the radio resets?

It will read the radio sucessfully and then the display resets to the fail code 1/90. As soon as I take the program cable out of the mic connection the radio resets itself to normal. This cable and rib box works with no problems on my other computer running it the same exact windows and CPS progam.

mcs 2000 programming problem

Post by robbip »

I had the same problem andd had to send the radio to the big m here in Australia
They told me that the codeplug had become corrupt hence the 01/90 fault the reason for the corruption was trying to download the codeplug with the wrong RSS/CPS version
