Astro Spectra W9 boot fail

Post by Carl »

hi,
i just received a VHF W9 Astro Spectra and it don't want to open properly. Everything was tested with 3 different astron power supplys. I connect the orange and green wire comming from the remote head to the + on the power supply. The ON/OFF switch on the head is at on, the only thing happen is the radio backlights and option buttons open and 2 seconds after everything close. the display also do the same. What it can be ?

Like Will indicated, you need to add the =12 volts to the heavy power cable going to
the radio. Without it, the radio will not power up.

If that were the case I'd expect the head to throw a Fail 01/90. It's obviously got enough of a ground to let some power flow through the head.

To the OP, do you have another head, another drawer, or another set of cables you might try, as a process of elimination? Might also be helpfull to post the model and other information shown on the radio body.
