Firmware

Post by Still IFR »

Request for any part of any RSS/CPS files is prohibited by the board rules.
Are the rules the same for firmware?

Thanks.

Are firmware updates an income stream for /\/\ ? Just wondering why they don't make them readily available to consumers.

Because a majority of their customers are goverments and they know they will pay whatever they ask. Then you and I get stuck with the bill.

That's my opinion anyway.

That is if they will even sell them to you. Some of the firmware part numbers come up as available on my MOL account, and some come up as not in my catalog which means i don't have access to them. Don't know why, i did all the licensing paperwork when i got my MOL account.

You can get firmware from myradiomall
http://www.myradiomall.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi

Or you can buy an original chip (not copy) used from someone.

Post again what you are looking for without asking for a file.

I don't want to step on any toes here. That is why I asked.

What I would like to do is be able to update the firmware on some Pro radios, HT750/HT1250/CDM750/CDM1250, to the latest available.

Take them to a dealer - they will do them for free (they SHOULD) if they are in warrenty.

Else, most charge a nominal fee / radio or their labor charge.

I got a "New" HT1250 on ebay. When it came it was missing the labels. Turns out it is a used radio from Taiwan in a new case. Think I will get it back if I take it to a dealer?

So far as I know, it's the same upgrade software package for the North American & overseas radios...so the dealer should be able to upgrade the firmware.

Welcome to the club. I'd been had by a dealer like that too. He did such a poor job rehousing it that the O-ring seal was damaged and needed to be replaced, flex connections to the radio RF board were damaged, and the dumbass forgot to remove the protective display sticker from the inside of the housing.... But the radio works either way.
