HT1000 Keypad Removal

Post by mboy »

Is it fairly simple to remove an HT1000 DTMF keyboard and make the radio a non DTMF version?

Not sure if there would be any firmware or hidden hardware issues of any kind.

Thanks.

Quite simple. Toggling between DTMF and non-DTMF on a radio that came with it from the factory can be done in the software. Quoted from Batlabs:
If you have RSS version R03.02.01 or newer, you can enable DTMF by going into the Radio Wide Screen (F4-F3-F2 from the Main Menu), then press ctrl-shift-F7. This should bring up a special options screen from which you can enable or disable DTMF (option H297). Note that the caveat is that this only works on a radio that was originally equipped with a DTMF pad. If the radio didn't come with a DTMF pad from the factory, then the only way to make it work is to hex edit the codeplug.
Hardware-wise, all you need is a non-keypad plastic front with the electronics included. Just pop the old one off and pop the new one on.

In fact, if you want to find a home for that DTMF front, PM me.. 8)

Good to know it is indeed a simple procedure.

Will keep you in mind provided I can get the radio.

Or you could trade for my non-dtmf "DN" radio.
