Re: remote radio via cisco routers..

Wanted to add something for this old thread. If your are interconnecting multiple remote sites together with a DMVPN then YOU MUST enable pim nbma mode on your tunnel interface that the dmvpn is occurring on. In short multicast relies RFP (reverse path forwarding). That revers e path forwarding gets...

Enabling radius on GTR8000

So I’ve played around with this some and haven’t had the results I wanted. Currently we manage our GTRs with the MotoCSS login and a configured Auth/Priv. This obviously isn’t super scalable. I see in the GTR the ability to set a radius secret and the radius IP/FQDN etc. When I set all that up I sti...

Re: 2012 PI vs CIV

I'm kinda kicking a dead thread here, but did you try Odyssey Consoles? I have no personal experience with them but I see that they make consoles for various SUVs and such that by default have console shifters. http://www.odysseyauto.com/cabinets/consoles1.html Maybe they have something not listed o...

Re: Astro Modem over IP

So coming in on this alittle late, but here are a few thoughts. You are essentially using the VG6 to produce an analog leased line for the analog Astro modem which is converted to IP going to the Cisco router. Now, my knowledge on the Astro modem is alittle dated (haven't worked on them in 3+ years)...

Re: 07 Dodge Charger ignition RFI wipes out VHF MCS2000

It is clearly RFI in the Dodge Charger only but we found it occurs even with the key on (not started). I'm sure you already thought of this but if it occurs with the vehicle off and key in the on position that makes me think it's something along the lines of a electric motor. If the car has a smog ...

Re: 07 Dodge Charger ignition RFI wipes out VHF MCS2000

Wow, if that is indeed the case then lord knows what's different. Could be the PCM, could be just the coil packs, could be just grounding cables, and so on and so forth you get the idea. I'd almost just want to get the dealer involved and try to get some answers from somebody at Dodge about this. Be...

Re: 07 Dodge Charger ignition RFI wipes out VHF MCS2000

I'd still try pulling the alternator belt off being it isn't a whole bunch of trouble just to see. I have a hard time believing that a noise like that just part of the "CIVI" chargers. I'd check it and see. A co-worker of mine has a Magnum with the Hemi with VHF/UHF/HF ham rigs in it with ...

Re: 07 Dodge Charger ignition RFI wipes out VHF MCS2000

Well, coming in on the backside of this I'm gonna ask a few questions. Is the noise coming from a device directly (IE alternator) or is it being injected into the ground of the vehicle from a device? If the noise is all encompassing I am tending to think something is putting a hmm which just happens...

Vehicle battery maintainer

I've done a quick search and didn't seem to turn up much. At my work, we have two vehicles that rarely leave the facility and the batteries are usually dead by the time we get around to using them. The vehicles are basically E-350 Ford vans setup in a similar way to an ambulance with auxilary tech b...

Sorry, we have XTS 5000's. I'll have to drop ka8ypy a note or maybe he will see this. I thought about possibly making one, using a TPL amplifier and such but I figured I would try to see what was commerically available first you know. If you guys have any links drop them if you wouldn't mind.

Looking for info and pictures of XTVA portable base station

Basically I know what a XTVA is and such and we need some sort of portable base station at my work but I can not find any documentation or anything about these things. I know they exist, just can't find it. I'm looking for something on the VHF side 136-174 with a HHCH and an inline amplifier. Also w...

You will need the Power cable, a W4/W7/W9 control cable, and the appropriate control head. The radio is eithor a W7 or a W9 and you can determine which is it VIA the FCC ID number I believe. It will have W7 or W9 in one of those part numbers someplace. Forgot to add, you'll also need the mounting br...

Re: Can a 860 MHz Astro be used as a monitor without being a

I'm told that if I bought an 800 MHz Astro to use as a monitor for police/fire frequencies on our local digital P25 system it would be as worthless as a brick since it can't work without being authorized. I volunteer as a special deputy with our sheriff's communications response team and bought a U...

Yeah, you're screwed here. The TIB or Transceiver Interface Board is different on a W3, W7 and a W9. What you're considering could in fact destroy the radio. I think the flashcode is in fact different on a spectra but not 100% sure when you go from W3, W7 and W9. Now, the XTL 5000's I know you can c...

You need to do a drag and drop. What version of CPS are you using??? Being you have a different flashcode and so on here is what you need to do. Open the codeplug for radio 1 and have it use only 1/2 of the screen. Then open up a second CPS and read out radio 2, again only using 1/2 of the screen. Y...
