As an alternative. take a look at the CFSound III by ACS. http://www.cfsound.com/index_CFSound.asp It will store wav files and can be optioned to play on dry contact, loop, or via serial. I have a couple in use and can't say anything bad about them other then the price.

Re: Add alert tone to Gold Elite?
Great information... I'm wondering if we can add our own tone somehow? Is it possible to upload a wav file or other format sound file, or are we just limited to those 3?

Add alert tone to Gold Elite?
Does anyone know if its possible to add a custom alert tone to a Gold Elite system? Our current system has the default single beep and repeating beep, but we'd like to add a third sound to indicate special calls. Our Motorola rep claims that there is no way to do it - two sounds is all the system is ...

I have 8 Spectras that I picked up rather inexpensively, and would like to program them up with some conventional channels. They are 800 MHz Smartnet, Model D35ZXA5JC2AK.
Of the 8, two of them programmed no problem with my software. The other 6 won't read/program at all. I get "Serial Bus Error ...

Breaking out talkgroup audio, SmartZone 4.1?
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to break out the audio for 6 different talkgroups on a SZ 4.1 system, at the infrastructure somewhere? That is, given access to all of the infrastructure hardware and controllers, is there a simple way to pull line-level (or other) audio out of the system for ...

Scanning conventional and ASTRO?
I think I know the answer to this, but there's always someone out there that seems to have another way of doing things!
Is it possible to scan both conventional channels and ASTRO groups at the same time with the XTS3500/5000?
Thanks!

Our department is on the verge of taking over the maintenance responsibility for our 2 zone SmartZone system from Motorola, as the warranty period is expiring. We've asked Motorola for a list of suggested spares, but I'd like to get some suggestions from the real world.

Does anyone have any idea, from a proposal or otherwise, what /\/\ charges for a WNG box, aka Wireless Network Gateway? Trying to compare apples to apples as much as possible on a data system proposal.
Thanks all.

Factory Programming for trunked equipment?
Has anyone ever heard of Motorola programming trunked equipment at the factory? A local city is about to purchase about 900 units, XTL5000s and a variety of XTS portables, and the local shop has said that it will take them about 5 weeks to program them.

Cross-Band Repeaters Legal or not?
I was recently told that it was illegal to cross band from a UHF conventional channel or repeater with a VRS that then transmits via an ASTRO Spectra. The equipment is, of course, irrelvent, it's more the concept and setup that I'm pointing out: Conventional or Repeater, UHF into an 800 trunked ...

I have an MT2000 with a cracked front display, other than that its in perfect working order. Is it more practical to just order the entire assembly with the display and all (NTN7154A for $127) or can I just replace the LCD or even the flex and guts inside?
Any suggestions?
