As an alternative. take a look at the CFSound III by ACS. http://www.cfsound.com/index_CFSound.asp It will store wav files and can be optioned to play on dry contact, loop, or via serial. I have a couple in use and can't say anything bad about them other then the price.

Thanks for the quick replies, guys.. the radios do power up normally, no problems there. The RIB is also powered off of a power supply, so it's not a case of a weak battery. Unfortunately, too, there aren't any flourescent lights around!

Maybe I'm just SOL?

I have 8 Spectras that I picked up rather inexpensively, and would like to program them up with some conventional channels. They are 800 MHz Smartnet, Model D35ZXA5JC2AK.

I'm thinking conventional channels and trunked talkgroups, which is also possible, but isn't worth it because the radio has to monitor the control channel for x amount of time before scanning the conventional channels- you're bound to miss a lot.

Thanks for that complete reply. The funny thing is, this information CAME from the system administrator. Our County's system has 31 sites, and three separate zones. Within the zone the sites are simulcast.

Actually, the templates are already created an in use. This would just be adding more units. I remember 10 years or so ago they used to do it, but now the local guy claims they don't. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't being done anywhere else!

I have an MT2000 with a cracked front display, other than that its in perfect working order. Is it more practical to just order the entire assembly with the display and all (NTN7154A for $127) or can I just replace the LCD or even the flex and guts inside?
