Problem downloading CPS from MOL

Post by Bugs Bunny »

Hi guys,

Went to MOL yesterday and attempted to download the lastest revision to Astro 25 CPS. No problem downloading the CPS for the mobile but the portable CPS finishes after only 14 Mb. The zip file is corrupt because it is only half the size of what it should it be. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Or do you think it is local to my machine?

I have had the same problem with the MOL site before. The file is good, but it's something in the download that goes bad. I was only able to get about 2 megs of it. I have seen this before with iDEN Super Agent, and some other RSS/CPS. Just keep trying to download it, and you will get it.

You can download CPS/RSS from MOL?

Geeze...who needs Russians *grin*

Does Motorola still send you an RSS Package in the mail if you desire?

Yes they still ship the CD-ROM's but MOL is obviously quicker.

I was still using R04.01.01 up until last week when I confirmed with Motorola that this version was buggy and would occassionally give an error message "Unable to program radio without Advanced System Keys".

To my suprise, the customer service rep told me they were shipping R04.01.03. I told him I hadn't even seen R04.01.02 yet!
I got passed onto the MOL guru and within 24 hrs., I had access to the latest CPS for downloading.

Funny....another copy of R04.01.01 on CD-ROM arrived at my office yesterday! You gotta wonder sometimes!

I figure Motorola may of stopped shipping the minor revisions to MOL account holders but ship the major revisions, since I haven't received my upgrades for the last fixes though the last two revisions came out fairly quickly. Seemed to be in six weeks. Though the one thing I would appreciate is to be able to upgrade the software without having to do a full removal, reboot, install and reboot.

Who can join MOL? Is it an authorized-dealer thing, or can anyone join?

I'm looking for someone to program MTX and GTX portables for scanning. A local Motorola dealer charges $40 to program (reasonable,) but only using their generic freq/talkgroups template. Since I know some other people in the same predicament I am, maybe buying a RIB and RSS ain't that bad? Just exploring my options.

Thanks!

What's new in 4.01.01

Post by hamptonbeach »

FWIW ...

This new version (R04.01.01) contains the following fixes and
enhancements:

1. The CPS (R04.01.00) is generating invalid fields when adding a new
trunking personality to a Type II 700/800 MHz radio with Splinter
Channel enabled. Please be aware that this issue does NOT affect
any other user.
If the radio is NOT a Type II 700/800 MHz with Splinter Channel
enabled, it is NOT necessary to install this new CPS version.

2. For OTAR users, we have added a 'View OTAR ID's' button on the
'Clone Radio' and the 'Clone Wizard' screens where it allows the
user to update the 'OTAR ID's'during cloning.

3. For XTL 5000 radios, we have also added "French" for
"Language Selection".

That's all folks

Okay, I have a MOL account, and have purchased software, but it (and the updates) have always come in the mail. Am I missing something? Where in MOL can you download updates?

Log in, and on the opening page, read the "Product and Technical News"
The only time you'll see downloadable software is if there is a minor revision release of what you've already purchased, not the original purchase itself.
In this thread we are talking about RVN4181M has been updated to 'N'

If you do not see it, call MOL and open up a file, asking to have access. Should not take more than a day or so. You will see the latest version of the CPS you have subscribed to.
