I'll be there too, this year, instead of selling gear, I'll probably set up, drink and make fun of the stinky hams.

SG
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

One of the Channel Plan posts.

But I will be there. Fairly low key, IF I have a radio it may not move off of a single channel. And I will probably not be attending any of the "large" dinners. Best bet to get a hold of me is via cell/txt.

Maybe I'll see some of you guys there.

Local repeaters:
442.100 (CSQ) DARA's UHF repeater
442.925 (123.0) W8AK, wide coverage, clicky more info.
442.950 (118.8 )
443.775 (131.8, doesn't tx PL) WF8M, linked to 6m, clicky more info.

146.940 is DARA's official hamvention talk-in.

In the past there have been several 900MHz repeaters on site; might want to do a search of past Dayton threads. My group *might* have 927.6625 (131.8 ) on the air, as we did last year. 927.500 is the simplex calling frequency around here.

442.300+3Z WB8VSU, is another good repeater, good coverage, IRLP and is usually fairly quiet. I can be found here quite often. FWIW....

I use the 70 cm. systems around here for the most part because they are the better systems! Here they are:

WB8VSU- 442.300/447.300, 3Z encode/decode (Located in south Dayton with great coverage of the entire area.)

W8AK- 442.925/447.925, 3Z encode/decode (UHF talkout and reciever)
146.985/146.385, 3Z encode/decode (VHF talkout and reciever)
This is a HUGE link system with multiple talkouts and recievers covering western ohio from Cinci to nearly Toledo.

WF8M- 443.775/448.775 131.8 ENCODE ONLY! CSQ otherwise... This system is located across the street from Hara Arena with great coverage of the entire area. This also has a 6 meter link to 53.03.

W8BI- 442.100/447.100 94.8 encode/decode. Still not sure where this system is located but works the area very well.

There are no 900Mhz systems here yet unfortunately. The nearest one is in eastern Indiana and can be used from high elevations around the Dayton area.

Hope this helps! Got questions let me know.

I don't think places around here do the firemans discount thing anymore. There was a lot of pressure recently on that subject with police and fire here in the Dayton area and people abusing it. Most guys just pay up! Plus, a bunch of guys that work for the fire dept where that Drury Inn is located were just fired for looking at porn on duty. Of course the media had a damn field day. Good luck with that!

I'll be there Friday only, got to be home Friday night for another trip Saturday. I'll be on P25 uhf, and 900. There will be at least one 900 repeater onsite, details to follow. I'll check in on 446.925. Are there any VHF p25 ham frequencies in use?

First of all, I'm still looking for a Drury reservation, if anyone has one that won't be used.

Second, a lot of the communications from the ARRL are talking about the road construction on Needmore. For those of us staying on Miller Lane I'd recommend this route:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&g ... 11673&z=13

It's been said that anyone coming from I-70 shouldn't worry and to just take the route you normally would, which would be Exit 29, Route 48/Main St. in Englewood down to Shiloh Springs Rd.

Optionally, if you are going to park on Basore Rd. (which I'd recommend due to price and it's a shorter hike than the ass-rapers across the street) I would follow this route:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&g ... 33459&z=12

Needmore Road as of today is just having minor repairs west of I-75. East of I-75 its all jacked up. Shouldnt be a problem going through that area to Hara Arena. Just keep your finger crossed they don't start the planned major resurfacing project on Needmore between I-75 and Main Street untill after Hamvention!

Guys -

I just called and spoke with Jeremiah, one of the managers at lonestar. He told me that Jeff, the guy who has taken care of us for AT LEAST the past 3-4 years which we have all been dining at Lonestar, no longer works there. He further explained to me that they will no longer hold tables, much like Jeff had done for us in the past. We can "call ahead" earlier in the day, and probably only have a 30 minute wait, but I find that a hard line to take with so many people in town having dinner.

I would have figured that 3-4 years of bringing in probably 4-8K worth of business for them (in total), and this goes between us and the folks at Hamsexy - that we would have no problem.

I haven't spoken to Seth, or the organizer of that dinner, but at this time I'm concerned about being able to pull this off.

I am going to generate another thread in a few minutes. Please post there with how many people you expect to have attend this dinner and I will work with the GM there on Friday, if not Lonestar corporate to get the matter resolved. Short of that getting addressed, we will have to work towards a "plan b"

Look for that thread as a general announcement to take up reservations.

Thanks guys, and I appreciate your support.

Great..someone has stolen a ham's radio. QRM on 145.11, using thuglike profanity.
I'm sure the FOX's are out in force tonight looking for the PERP.

Weather this morning was drizzly and overcast. Cleared up nicely around noon and
turned out to be a great day for a Hamfest!
