DCS vs PL?
Hi all;
I'm curious to get your thoughts on this. As I've posted in another thread, I'm toying with the idea of getting some kind of repeater on the air, even if just one of those "I want to see if I can do it" kinda projects. Anyway, I was wondering what your suggestion would be in terms of coded ...

Well, I've done some looking and yes, I agree I wouldnt use the 70 for duplex...from what I read online it has superior TX audio, so I think I'd just use it for that.

Well, if you're looking for a solid tone, you could always program a side button to be Singletone. I've used this in the past to use as a "call button", so the other person(s) can keep their radio on and they hear a beep come across when I'm trying to call them. This is, of course, assuming you are ...

The only real "alert tone" that I can think of would be the Evacuation Tone. To activate this, you have to enable it in the RSS/CPS. On the radio, to transmit it, push in the PTT button, then hold in the Orange emergency button.

We tracked a guy down here a while ago who was messing around on a local ham repeater (as well as on the police repeater and such)...basically we listened and found a pattern...in the AM, he was really weak to the west and strong to the east, and in the PM it was different. His signal always had ...

I believe the singletone was only intended to open repeaters that required it on the astro series. Last time I looked, there is no decode option to the radio. Singletone will not work on simplex channels (you can program it, but the radio will not send it).

Mocom 70 Repeater information needed
Hi all;
I'm working on converting a Mocom 70 mobile to use in a repeater setup.
I remember reading somewhere that you can convert the radio to work as a duplex radio, only requiring an external controller and duplexer...but I've been unable to find any information in this regard.
Failing that, I ...

the XTS is the COSMO line and shares not a damn thing with Jedi except the side accessory port/programming cable and maybe the antenna.

XTS3000 issues
Hey all, I've got a question that's been bugging me for awhile.
I've got a VHF XTS3000 that has an annoying problem. The radio works perfectly, except for the key tones. In the CPS, I've got it set to beep when you push a key, such as the light or other such things. However, NOTHING I do can get ...

Sorry to ask the obvious, but wouldn't that just be MDC? MDC is digital, with analog voice.allplowedout wrote: Digital ID tx'd on keyup followed by analog modulation for voice transmissions. Quite fascinating if you've neer seen it, or know about the "fireground communications option"
