My advice to the author is this:
Find a dealer that will let you test drive the radios. Hold them, touch them , squeeze them. Which one is the easiest to grip? Which one doesn't awkwardly bulge out of a rear pocket? What is the audio quality like? How are they built? (on the inside)

Yeah, ht600's go out of band pretty easily compared to some of the others. PRetty bland radio in the bells & whistles department but the rock solid lobster-like construction makes up for it.

That's an easy one.

There is MBE (Multi-Band Excitation) and IMBE (Improved Multi-Band Excitation) and also AMBE (Advanced Multiband Excitation)

They are of course speech compression algorythms. They were developed for use in other digital voice applications, not just Project 25.

Instead of using MDC on the ham repeaters, I use Select V. I have a 5 character value set for a 10 second burst pre and post. No one seems to mind. :lol:

I have also noticed this with an in-depth anaylsis!
They also sound different with what you enter in there.

One thing though, is the length of the MDC burst adjustable? Because I've noticed that some are longer than others (slightly) and I know other data bursts are adjustable. MAybe that's it?

That is the same as the p50+. Only the plus had the keypad. It also has kwik kall II. You can usually tell if it's the low power (2 watt) version just by looking at it, but it's kind of hard to tell from that picture because they are in the charger. The high power models are taller.

I should try that one sometime! I just throw them away as soon as the antennas get a litle bent and buy a whole new radio. Didn't know the antennas are replacable.

I have found that the Jedi series also has a delay, but unfortunately nothing to compare it to.
