Question on Saber connector pin function

Hi there,
What is the use of pin 8 Opt B+ in the Saber connector ?
It is not used in most of the headset/handmic I have but on one the headset it is used but it starts to give me strange behavior (will not disconnect after keyed).
Thanks in advanced,
Chris

Hi there,

Astro,
Whats the point of asking if you've already decided what you are going to do ?
A better alternative might be getting GMRS license online from FCC (just pay and no exam) and then you can have 5W on the first 7 channels of FRS and use all the UHF Sabers you can carry.

Its not as hard as you think. The EFF cracked DES in 3 days in 1998 and Distributed Net cracked DES in 22 hours using a PC cluster. It is still prohibitive for a personal effort but a small server farm in anyone of the silicon valley computer company can easily do the same thing within days.

Speaking about encryption. Since it is a digital process, is it considered to be data transmission ? If that's the case, can we further assume it is legal to transmit encrypted voice in the MURS frequencies where data transmission is allowed ? Or the above is too much of a stretch ?

They both sound the same in the small room. I thought you have to go distant to tell the range differences.

Unless I mistaken the part # on the casing, it is a DES talking to a DES/XL. In fact, the DES KVL won't load the DES/XL and I have to use a DES/XL KVL to load the code.
