Yes, you can set the channel announce as secondary to voice traffic on the channel.

I believe you need to order the Fireground option Q445AB and it goes for $250 list per radio. That adds the channel announce as well as fireground accountability features for use with the Motorola fireground ...

Yes, you can record the wav files then compress them to mvf format and load them in the radio. Works well. Firefighters love it since they can have the radio under their turnout coat and not have to look at the radio to see what channel they are on.

Our old key that works in RSS works fine in CPS also. You have to browse the CPS to the folder containing the key and it will import the key.

The flashcode determines what features are enabled. So a new flash is needed to go from analog to analog/Astro IMBE.

Think of the firmware as the radio operating system. A firmware upgrade may contain bug fixes and new basic radio features 9not to be confused with the flash options).

My original reply was a comment of a "brand new" radio with 2 yr old firmware. This may be misleading if someone were to purchase the radio thinking it has the latest firmware.

a brand new OLD radio! Version 1.5 is OLD. Figure you'll need a host/dsp refresh right off the bat. Many enhancement/bug fixes since v1.5, especially if you want to listen to Astro audio.

Some people have stated that the new CPS 4.0 will read an alpha radio that previously required the alpha CPS. I have not confirmed this as I do not have any alpha radios.

I've had a chence to have one demo'ed to us. XTVA with a power amp amp, speaker, and display mic in a suitcase.

Connect to a cigarette lighter power and uses a mag mount antenna.

When that battery is connected to an XTS5000 it would no longer display the battery percentage remaining. Also when you charge it in an Impress charger after that it will not recondition the battery if needed.

Also the first time the Impress battery is charged in a non-Impress charger the battery loses it's Impress abilities and will need to go to Rockford for repair.

The flashcode is second digit from left and FPP is a "2".

The host/dsp you are referring to is for the 3k, not 5k. Current host/dsp for 5k is 4.51. Ours are 4.0 firmware and are FPP compatible.

There is no way to tell if a radio has a "alpha" codeplug that requires developmental CPS to read/write. However the alpha radios floating around all have the 123ABC s/n and have version 2.20 firmware.

What if you put the 3k into digital carrier squelch? Can it receive the 5k then?

If not then I'd suspect an alignment problem with the 5k. Recheck the mod comp and deviation adjustments.

Also make sure the channel bandwidth is set correctly on both radios (either 2.5kHz or 5kHz)

It would be easier and not much more $$$ to get a battery off Ebay rather than rebuild it.

The output voltage of the battery is 7.5 volts so you would need to build a voltage regulator into the shell of the old battery. Don't forget heat dissapation for the regulator!

That is the two position concentric.

Make sure you do not have any other switch, button, or menu item set as scan.

If you have secure you'll need to make sure al channels are set to either clear or secure and not select as secure normally uses the concentric for selectable secure.

What is the bandsplit of the radio? Judging from your initial post it looks like 403-470.

Can you see if the flashcode in the radio matches the label on back? That would be a quick indication if someone loaded a different personality ointo the radio, possibly corrupting the VCO crossover.
