Not to mention the better antenna would give you +3db gain on RX as well, not just 3db on TX with the amp alone.

The XTS5000 is not capable of operation on either X2 TDMA nor P25 Phase II. For either of these systems you will need a properly flashed APX radio.

I think i figured out the issue, some wisenheimer uninstalled CPS15 and put 14.0 back on... once i put 15 back on (and flogged the tech) both radios took the uplift.

Houston PD's using them until the 700 Astro25 system gets rolled-out. UHF range 2, model 2. Every one I've seen so far come up as surplus was 512K with VSELP firmware. I do not believe any of the DB9 XTL series cables can be used to program the APX line. The software is only set up to look for the true USB cables.

CDM1550 gets crazy hot just sitting on the bench.
Hey all, i recently acquired a CDM1550LS+ that will get insane hot just sitting on the bench. Otherwise the radio works fine, rated power out, RX, etc... before i dig into this thing I figured id ask to see if there is something common i should look for first.

Motorola was more than willing to provide us with flashes for about 1000 astro spectra 1meg radios when we were looking to upgrade to 7.x... these were not astro spectra plus radios, but old legacy astro spectras.

Typically the minimum CPS version is equal to the firmware of the radio... in your case, i would expect to have to use CPS 12.x

We had a similiar issue using our UHF AVL system, what i did was program the RX frequency for a non-valid PL. It kept the speaker muted, but did not seem to affect the flat audio pins on the radios.

NO COMMS - Radio can hear the control channel, but the control channel isnt acknowledging the ISWs from the radio
In other words, NO COMMS typically means the system isnt hearing the radio, but the radio is hearing the system
